The Power of Relaxation

Focus this November: The Power of Relaxation

At Aishani, we’re turning our attention to relaxation—not as a luxury, but as a vital skill for renewal and inner vitality.

Far from being passive, true relaxation is a dynamic process that recharges the nervous system, clears mental clutter, and activates the body’s innate healing intelligence. It’s a foundational practice in both yoga and meditation.

In our experience—and that of our students—when relaxation is cultivated as its own practice, it profoundly enhances meditation. The body becomes still, the breath finds its rhythm, and the mind naturally opens. Instead of trying to quiet the mind, we enter meditation already calm, receptive, and connected to deeper states of awareness. True relaxation isn’t simply the absence of tension. It’s a conscious letting go—a return to our natural state, free from striving, attuned to life’s deeper rhythms. The ancient yogis understood that in this state, we access intuition, insight, and inner presence.

Many students find their most profound experiences arise not in effort, but in stillness—particularly during practices like Yoga Nidra or guided deep relaxation.

This month, we invite you to explore conscious relaxation not just as a remedy for exhaustion, but as a powerful doorway to real change: the ability to remain relaxed no matter what life presents you with (good times or bad times), you can stay relaxed and choose to act rather than react to situations that caused you stress or anxiety.

How do we do that? It is a process that can be learned; and like anything you learn you just have to practice regularly. “Where your awareness goes the energy flows.”

For today you can start with the free 8 minute practice of “Shavasana”. You can do this practice if you have time in your lunch break or otherwise first thing when you come home and as well before you go to bed. Try it out daily for a week and let me know how you are going. https://aishani.com.au/online-retreats
